I am so excited to be hosting my first crafting workshop just for kids ages 6 and up.* We will be weaving drawstring bags to hold all of our special, little trinkets and treasures.
Join me on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 2-4pm
Lehi, Utah (address will be emailed to attendees)
I learned to weave drawstring bags on a cardboard loom when I was young and loved it. As a child, I had access to all the supplies so I could make looms for bags of any size. I love this workshop because I get to teach kids a new skill that is very inexpensive, and uses items they find around their house to create beautiful and useful works of art. This workshop will teach the basics of how to make a loom from cardboard, weave, and finish off your piece so it can be put to use right away. We will be making small bags that measure 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" so that the project can be completed during the 2 hour period. Each child can use the knowledge learned at the workshop to create bags of any size at home. All materials will be provided. Each kit comes with two different colors of yarn (selected at purchase) but you are welcome to bring any additional colors you would like to use. Please keep in mind that chunky yarn will weave faster and will help to guarantee a finished project at the end of the workshop.
Here are just a few of the fun things we will be learning:
1. Make a loom from cardboard
2. Basic weaving stitch
3. How to switch colors
4. Finish and tie off your woven piece.
Class Kit Includes:
• Cardboard loom
• Two colors of yarn (selected at purchase)
• Yarn needle
You will be emailed the address of the event, along with any additional information that will be helpful a few days before the workshop. Please make sure the email you provide is current. You can also visit my blog, where I will be sharing more info and sneak peeks of the fun we will be having. www.amyrobison.com/blog
Tickets are final sale. There are no refunds, transfers or exchanges, so make sure you are free to party with us on January 3rd! Can't wait to see you there!
* Children ages 6-8 must be accompanied by an adult during the class to assist them with their weaving project.
